The Department of Social Work at Niagara University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor for its recently re-accredited CSWE social work program. This position will be responsible for teaching courses, along with research and service requirements, in a well-established, stable, smaller university undergraduate generalist BSW social work program. Our program resides at Niagara University, founded in 1856; a private, Catholic institution sponsored by the Vincentian community and located between the Niagara region of Canada and Buffalo, NY. Hiring will be at the Assistant Level (or potentially above for the right candidate) with a salary commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience, for this 10-month appointment. Tenure and/ or promotion will be based on success in this position, as well as accomplishments in teaching, university and community service, and scholarly publications.

The successful candidate must have an MSW in Social Work from an accredited social work program plus three years post MSW social work practice experience, along with a Ph.D. or D.S.W. in social work or a closely related field (ABD and those close to completing their Ph.D. will also be considered). Highly desired are candidates with LMSW/LCSW or eligible for state licensure.

Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester (downloads are available for conducting research or engaging in approved service or related activities). The candidate will in all probability teach Human Behavior in a Social Environment (HSBE), Introduction to Social Work, along with Research Methods, and potentially lead our Capstone course for seniors, as well as electives as needed. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Department, College of Arts & Sciences, and the University via participation in various committees and related service assignments. Lastly, the successful candidate needs to be an active researcher/scholar. Expectations for performance in each of these areas as they relate to gaining tenure can be discussed with the Chair of the Social Work Department.

About the department: The Department of Social Work at Niagara University has three full-time tenure track faculty members and a full-time field coordinator position. The Department is well supported by the university and enjoys an excellent reputation in our region. Enrollment averages 75-80 students with roughly 40% of students crossing the border from Ontario, Canada.

Full consideration will be given to applications received by January 20, 2023. We anticipate the position to begin in September 2023, following the retirement of a member of the faculty. If you have any questions and would like further information prior to applying, please contact Dr. Kevin Blair, Chair & Program Director at blairkd@niagara.edu

Dr. Tanyetta Carter will be at the APM this November and would be glad to meet informally with any interested candidates. If you would like to meet with Dr. Carter at the APM, please email her at: TaCarter@niagara.edu
